"Your Yelper Girl here. It was time to renew my driver's license and I had to go in person this time. After trying to schedule and appointment in Austin more than a month ahead of time, I was bummed to see most locations in Austin and the surrounding cities were booked more than FOUR MONTHS after my license expired. This lack of appointments was very disheartening and surprising not to mention VERY inconvenient. I was going to visit my mom in Texas City and decided to check if any appointments were available in TC during my visit. I was elated to see MANY days and time slots. I chose one and went in that day. The facility was packed however I checked in with the barcode that was sent to me in the confirmation email. Everything went smoothly and I was seen 15 minutes after my appointment time. \nMake sure you have your original birth certificate or certified copy when renewing. They will accept an official Record of Birth. They were very accommodating and the lady at the check-in area is so nice. I didn't get her name; however, she had short hair and had a calm and respectful demeanor."
